2Honoring the Globe’s Women #PaintItPurple
International Women’s Day 2015 |
---|
On March 8th each year, all around the world, International Women’s Day represents an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women, while calling for greater equality. The first International Women’s Day was held in 1911. Each year, thousands of events occur to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Throughout the month of March, groups globally choose to #PaintItPurple to mark International Women’s Day and show support. |
This year I wanted to do my own small part to give a shout-out to my amazing “sisters” that I’ve bumped into along the trail. Needless to say, I have plenty of images in my photo archives of my fellow lasses, both young and old. These are just a few – whittled into 3 collages of lasses from 3 different continents:
Lasses I’ve met in AFRICA:
(including Mozambique, Lesotho, Egypt and South Africa):
Lasses I’ve met in ASIA:
(including Thailand, Indonesia, Nepal, Vietnam and Myanmar)
Lasses I’ve met in The Americas:
(including Costa Rica, Panama, Belize, and Ecuador)
Beautiful faces. Beautiful smiles. And oh, the stories they could tell!
Oh my yes, Anita. choosing the pics was ever so enjoyable to relive my brief meetings with so many amazing women!
