Foto Flip Friday – September Theme: “Children of the World” (Week 3)

Welcome to a brand new edition of Foto Flip Friday – a selected showcase of photos dredged up from my bountiful photo archives and whittled into a pretty little “flip/flop” postcard each Friday. And to add to the fun, each month I’ll challenge myself to unearth a series of images that meet a monthly theme.

This month’s theme showcases a few of the sweet little ones I’ve met in my travels:

Children of the World

This is the 3rd week of the “Children of the World” theme and I’ve unearthed three more images from my travel photo archives – a most eclectic mix that spans nearly 25 years.  (do mouseover to see a short message on the back of each postcard).

(simply mouseover the image and watch the *magic!)

* Well o.k. for those viewing in IE, not so much a magical “flip” as a fading change. If you want to see the flip/flop, try viewing in Chrome or Firefox.

And here we have another oldie but fond goodie – from my first trip to Thailand back in the ’90s:

And finally, a more recent cutie peering in the doorway of my ger in western Mongolia

All this month I’ll be rummaging through my archives for more “Children of the World” images, so check back next Friday to see another flip/flop postcard or two from my past.

And meanwhile – if you’d like to submit a “Children of the World” photo of your own (in landscape format, min. 700 px. wide), just upload it to an online source (e.g. your blog, Facebook, Flickr, etc – make sure the privacy settings are set to “public”), and post a link to it in the comments below.

Who knows?  I might just whittle it into a flip/flop digital postcard here!

There’s just something so captivating about the beauty and smiles of children that reaches across cultures. Love the photo of the little ones in Thailand especially! I found a photo that we loved and you might like that Richard took in July at an artisan’s fair in Panama City. A professional photographer couldn’t have arranged a more symmetrical pose but this really was a candid shot at a serendipitous moment!
