0Foto Flip Friday – February Theme: “MARKETS” (Week 1)
Welcome to a brand new edition of Foto Flip Friday – a selected showcase of photos dredged up from my bountiful photo archives and whittled into pretty little “flip/flop” postcards each Friday. And to add to the fun, each month I’ll challenge myself to unearth a series of images that meet a monthly theme.
For this, the 9th consecutive month of Foto Flip Fridays, I’ve chosen to highlight one of my favorite travel pastimes: wandering amid exotic markets wherever I land. These include not only local craft markets, but also bustling fresh food markets, as well as stray street vendors offering most everything but (and sometimes including) the kitchen sink!
So let’s get started with February’s FFF theme: MARKETS
First we have something a bit different – a long-ago image from my first trip to Thailand (back in… I’m honestly not sure of even the year!). But suffice in the early days of my “Imagine Travel Alternatives” tour biz (specializing in travel to Belize and Costa Rica) I opted to run a small group trip to Thailand. I’d never before visited Thailand but I contracted with a lad in Bangkok to handle the logistics, while I marketed the trip to my growing list of previous Imagine clients (and tagged along as “guide”, natch!) 😉
The photo was taken with film of course – in color, but here I’ve turned it into a soft sepia to enhance the “nostalgia” of it.
(Do mouseover to see a short message on the back of each postcard.
Simply mouseover the image and watch the *magic!)
* Well o.k. for those viewing in IE, not so much a magical “flip” as a fading change. If you want to see the flip/flop, try viewing in Chrome or Firefox.
And for this week’s second entry, we catch the TravelnLass amid one of her most favorite places on earth – poking around a “thrift store” in – of all places, MOROCCO!:
All this month I’ll be rummaging through my archives for more “Markets”, so check back next Friday to see another flip/flop postcard or two from my past.
And meanwhile – if you’d like to submit a “Markets” photo of your own (in landscape format, min. 700 px. wide), just upload it to an online source (e.g. your blog, Facebook, Flickr, etc – make sure the privacy settings are set to “public”), and post a link to it in the comments below.
Who knows? I might just whittle it into a flip/flop digital postcard here!
