2Feedback From My TL Readers Means a LOT!
I hesitate to toot my own horn here, but just couldn’t help but share a note I recently received from one of my TravelnLass readers:
“Hello Dyanne, happy 2017! I loved seeing your postcards from the past year. Here’s to another 12 months of adventure!
I sent you a long, breathless email early last year, looking for reassurance about traveling-but also being a bit needy I’m afraid. Anyhow, I just wanted to let you know that I went to Africa [solo] in June and had a truly amazing time. If I hadn’t had you as a role model/touchstone I don’t know if I would’ve had the courage. Even though we never actually got to talk, your influence made a difference to me.”
99.99% of it of course, was mustering her own courage and just.DOING.IT.
But I must say – it was very kind of her to take the time to write, and it really made my day. Knowing that sharing my wacky TL tales here might have helped nudge even a single TL reader to likewise take that leap, buy that airfare, hop on that plane (all alone) and experience the joy that such adventures (are guaranteed to) bring – makes the hours I’ve spent here at this insufferable keyboard for the past 6 years (400 posts and counting!) – oh so very worthwhile.
In short: Good for YOU, girlfriend!

Your stories are inspiring Dyanne and show, not only that traveling can be done on a budget but also that solo travel need not be dangerous or frightening. In short, you show that traveling alone can be done and fun! Good on you!
Thanks Anita. I know that not everyone is as keen to travel as we are, but it does make me sad to think that some yearn to travel, but don’t b/c they are afraid to travel alone. As you and I well know – the benefits are *priceless*. So if my blatherings here can nudge even one to test her/his solo wings, my job is done here. 😉
btw, I’ve been meaning to mention – thanks much for the reminder about the book “Taking Flight” (those butterflies). I’d downloaded it some time ago, then forgot I had it. Just started reading it (in anticipation of my forthcoming trip to Michoacan, MX) and… lordy but that lass surrre knows how to write! Now I’m even more excited to gaze at those Monarchs myself.
